Mark your calendars. Appalachia Resist! will be hosting an Action Camp aimed at gearing up local anti fracking activists for the coming fight. This camp will offer workshops covering a variety of topics including; Community Organizing, Navigating the ODNR, Media Activism, Know Your Rights, Direct Action Planning, Water Testing, Blockades, and more. These skills are essential for developing a diverse resistance to the energy companies and complicit state agencies that are hoping to cash in on cheap place to dump their radioactive waste.
Friday the 16th
We’ll kickoff the weekend with a panel discussion focused on the current state of fracking in Southeast Ohio. Panelists include Nathan Johnson of the Buckeye Forest council, Teresa Mills an injection well expert, Natalie Kruse, assistant professor this quarter in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, and a member of Radical Action for Mountain Peoples Survival(RAMPS). This event will be held at Arts West in Athens, Ohio and starts at 7pm.
