New Action Camp Dates: Nov 16, 17, 18

Mark your calendars.  Appalachia Resist! will be hosting an Action Camp aimed at gearing up local anti fracking activists for the coming fight.  This camp will offer workshops covering a variety of topics including; Community Organizing, Navigating the ODNR, Media Activism, Know Your Rights, Direct Action Planning, Water Testing, Blockades, and more.  These skills are essential for developing a diverse resistance to the energy companies and complicit state agencies that are hoping to cash in on cheap place to dump their radioactive waste.

Friday the 16th

We’ll kickoff the weekend with a panel discussion focused on the current state of fracking in Southeast Ohio.  Panelists include Nathan Johnson of the Buckeye Forest council, Teresa Mills an injection well expert, Natalie Kruse, assistant professor this quarter in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, and a member of Radical Action for Mountain Peoples Survival(RAMPS). This event will be held at Arts West in Athens, Ohio and starts at 7pm.

Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th

Workshops will be held in downtown Amesville, at ACRE, the old Amesville Elementary.  From Athens, take 550 to Amesville and turn Left onto Franklin just after the Manna House.  Acre is one block up on the Right.  The facility is accessible by wheelchair.  Parking is available.  Lunch and dinner will be provided as well as childcare.  We request a $10-$40 sliding scale donation, with no one turned away for lack of funds. A schedule can be found here.

Space is limited, so please RSVP by filling out this handy form.

Can someone please tell me the answers to these questions? 1) Is this event primarily geared toward OH residents, or would you welcome regional allies (I live and work in WV); 2) What kind of housing options are available; 3) is it possible to just register for one or two of the days listed?
